A Time To Give
The holidays is such a joyful, magical, exciting time of year for our students and they wanted to share the love. This year
instead of a classroom gift exchange our students wanted to donate to a
school in need. With much conversation and brainstorming our students
decided to Adopt -A-School that was in need due to Hurricane Sandy. We have chosen to donate school supplies to P.S. 106 in the Far Rockaway area in NY. Public
School 106 had their PreK-2 building completely destroyed. Although it
has been weeks since this devastating storm, schools are still trying to
rebuild and cope from the damage caused by Sandy. The students from
P.S. 106 have had to relocate to use mobile schools or have had to
squeeze into the other building that houses grades 3, 4, and 5. After
speaking with the school counselor she informed us that their loss has
been catastrophic. Super Storm Sandy wiped out everything… all their
desks, chairs, computers, student supplies and teacher supplies.
A donation center has been set up in our classroom and we will be collecting until December 20th. People have already been so generous - Thank you for your support :o)

Fire Safety
Friday was Fire Safety Day at BB. Our students were reminded to create a fire exit plan with their family, change smoke detector batteries and were given many more safety tips. They also had the opportunity to explore the fire equipment and trucks. Thank you to all of our firemen and women who work to keep us safe everyday.

Classroom Visit
Yesterday, I surprised my class with a visit. It was so fun seeing all there 2nd grade faces. I was also pleased to show of my little Lena Rose bud. Can't wait to see them all again when I return on November 26th.
A note to my class: You are all doing such an amazing job as 2nd graders. Thank you for showing off all the work you have been doing with Mrs. Taylor and THANK YOU for letting me know that you will help me out when I come back... (I am a bit nervous to teach upper case cursive). Have fun at Open House tomorrow. I know your families will be so proud of all the effort and hard work you are doing each and every day.
