A Time To Give

The holidays is such a joyful, magical, exciting time of year for our students and they wanted to share the love. This year instead of a classroom gift exchange our students wanted to donate to a school in need. With much conversation and brainstorming our students decided to Adopt -A-School that was in need due to Hurricane Sandy. We have chosen to donate school supplies to P.S. 106 in the Far Rockaway area in NY. Public School 106 had their PreK-2 building completely destroyed. Although it has been weeks since this devastating storm, schools are still trying to rebuild and cope from the damage caused by Sandy. The students from P.S. 106 have had to relocate to use mobile schools or have had to squeeze into the other building that houses grades 3, 4, and 5. After speaking with the school counselor she informed us that their loss has been catastrophic. Super Storm Sandy wiped out everything… all their desks, chairs, computers, student supplies and teacher supplies.
A donation center has been set up in our classroom and we will be collecting until December 20th.  People have already been so generous - Thank you for your support :o)
